I am against testing make-up on animals.

I'm not 100% sure, but I know there are printable skin-cells made.... I'm not sure if those skins are usable for testing instead of animals. Would be nice to include something about it ... since not many people know about these special printers.

I know that some companies would list their products as "not tested on animals" ... but in fact, they use results of OTHER companies who have tested their chemicals/products on animals.... would be nice to mention something about that. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

• Develop a feasible research topic about animal rights. • Find and evaluate a variety of sources on your chosen topic. • Develop a deeper understanding of the issues involved based on careful reading of scholarly sources. • Use those same scholarly sources to explain your topic and support your point of view.

Task:

This assignment asks to you to write a scholarly research paper on the question of animal rights. Possible areas of research include, but are not limited to, the ethics of keeping a pet, the treatment of animals in the livestock industry, and the conservation of wild animal habitats. Your topic should be divisive or contentious enough that there are at least two sides to the issue, with some advocating for, and some against. Once you have chosen a topic, you should then develop a research question related to the topic you will pursue. From there, you must establish a thesis that reflects your position, the claim that you will make and subsequently follow through on.

Your essay should be between 1300 and 1500 words. In it you must cite at least 5 scholarly sources. All 5 of your sources must come from either a peer-reviewed academic journal or scholarly book, either online or in print. Though Wikipedia may be useful as a finding aid, you should not use it as a scholarly source. For dictionary definitions, please use the Oxford English Dictionary (available online through the library). All references to your sources, as well as the paper itself, must be in proper MLA format.

Evaluation:

Your essay should: • Make an argument, not just report on the topic. • Develop the argument fully, with effective choice and use of evidence. • Meet the usual standards for clear, coherent and concise writing. • Introduce, integrate and document source material correctly.
